OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

“Do you ever regret having these superpowers?”

“Sometimes. On my low days. But then I remind myself that God made me this way for a reason, and I’ve just got to trust in that.”

   “Um … What now?”

Chris “the Cannonball” Cooper insists that he’s no Superman – or even Bible Man, for that matter. But when Haley Hendricks witnesses the college football star take down a terrorist with superheroic savvy, she won’t be convinced otherwise.

Soon, though, Haley realizes that Chris isn’t the refined hero she thinks he is. With so much to learn from first aid to crisis negotiation, Haley decides to put her stoic Agnosticism aside and takes it upon herself to coach the fumbling Christian athlete with a knack for trouble into being the best superhero he can be.

And not a minute too soon. The city of Corvallis, once considered the safest place in America, is being subjected to a rising tide of violent crime. Thanks to Haley’s training, Chris is averting many near-catastrophes, but Haley begins to suspect that the worst of these incidents are connected. With assistance from her investigative journalist uncle and her own resources as a law student, Haley unearths some curious connections between a local gang, a huge technology conglomerate, and an international espionage agency.

Then, when an interrogation goes awry and they discover the dark secret of Chris’ lost origin, the newly formed Team Cooper must work against the clock – and their midterms – to thwart a truculent plan to use the city as a launching party for the black market sale of superhuman serum. In the midst of battle, when her world of fact and reason crumbles around her, Haley must transcend her mundane philosophy if she is to grasp what she’s really after: the truth.

With a theological spin on the classic superhero narrative, this story tackles both the nature of God and the high-octane action of superheroism without taking a break from the hilarious absurdity of life as a college student. Fans of blockbuster comic book movies will find another group of heroes to call their own, while exploring the outer limits of questions too deep for Hollywood, and yet too important to avoid in the legendary battle of good versus evil.
